Knitting + Olympics = Heaven

Hello blog readers! Thanks for stopping by this weekend. It's great to meet people who read the blog who I've never met. I appreciate any and all feedback:)

I've taken a week off from my event planning job here to get some r&r, knit, and watch the olympics.

Is anyone else part of the Ravelympics group? This is a group on ravelry.com that you join saying you'll start, knit and/or crochet a project, and bind off DURING the olympics. That's 17 days. I'm knitting Flow and I'm sure if that were all I was knitting, it would be easy as pie to complete in that time frame, but I have the following to finish:

Paula's Camellia
a newly added afghan square
finish the Prism shawl for a customer
do a Jane Slicer-Smith model for Mimi
start Bonnie so I can wear it the first day it feels cool enough

Anyways, I'm excited to knit for the entire week while watching things like water polo, team handball, and fencing.

We had a fun weekend at the shop and I've got lots of photos to share. I took pictures of the Della Q items we have because Knitters Review did an article on the messenger bag. I also love the circular needle case and the notion cases so I took a few pictures of those too...

Lucille brought in this needlepoint chart that she made and will transfer to canvas. It's just beautiful.

A few highlights right now in the shop:

The Be Sweet diagonal shawl. Here I am modeling it (Marilyn doesn't know how to use a camera so I had to take the photo myself):

Be Sweet is a company that gives part of its proceeds to support community development around the world including South Africa. The new kits we have are incredibly beautiful and clapoti-ish (i.e. done on the bias). You get five skeins of fine mohair in great colors.

Here are a few models from Classic Elite Modern Style. The yarn is Bam Boo- a really light weight and gorgeous yarn.

We've also got needlepointed pillows for sale now (i.e. already done!) and hooked rugs that are just fab. Here's a preview...

That's all for now. If you have any ideas for the blog, please let me know. Also, I'm ECarey on ravelry if you're on there- friend me! Happy knitting, Happy olympics, and Happy August!
