"Asking for Flowers"
One of my favorite singers is Kathleen Edwards, a folky, rocky, occasionally angry, awesome chic who sings about horrible break ups, house fires, and hockey. Her newest album is called Asking for Flowers and it's AWESOME. My band sings the title track and I was humming it today and then realized why- I am actually asking for flowers!
Here is what we've got so far...
And here is my new favorite book...
So not only are we asking for knitted flowers, but we'd love crocheted, and I've made two so far. I'm aiming for an entire vase full. I have a fun idea involving dowels for the stems. What color would thorns be?
We had lots going on in the shop this weekend. Check out the photos!
Marie sent me this F.O. Check out the adorable bees!
And a big thank you to George for making my pet christmas ornaments. I am LOVING the needlepoint, folks.
Send me any F.O.s you have and remember, we're asking for flowers! If you bring one in for the window, your name gets entered into the $50 gift certificate drawing. Have a great week, needle lady knitters!

Liz Gipson and Frodo
Hi everyone! I know you're all knitting flowers for our window (see previous posts if this doesn't make sense to you) but here's an update on happenings around the shop this past week.
On Friday, Liz Gipson, author of Weaving Made Easy, was in the shop.
This woman is really cool and inspired me to look into weaving. She also had a great outfit on, but that's a tad beside the point.
Isn't this gorgeous?
We also had a visit on Saturday from the famous Frodo, of the Frodo Christmas Stocking.
Don't you love how he is actually life sized on the stocking?
We've got lots going on at the shop. Come visit this weekend with your finished objects! I'll have the cam.

Event at the Shop- Tomorrow!
Hello loyal N.L. blog readers:)
Starting today (Friday, March 13th) we have our "clear out winter yarns" sale. Mimi has put lots of things on 40% off. I look forward to this weekend all year!
As you all undoubtedly know, the downtown mall is being restored. Every time a block is finished, the shops on that block are having a party. Well, tomorrow is our Irish Block Party!!! Please come down and see us and if you are a spinner and the weather is nice, bring your wheel and sit on the mall in front of the shop. At 3 p.m. there is a parade scheduled- bring your kids, babies, and doggies:) I'll have the camera and you'll be on the blog! You'll also have a chance to win a big prize.
If any of you have any F.O.s (finished objects) that you would like on the blog, please email me at ecareyincville@gmail.com (norwegian knitter- i tried to find your email but couldn't!!)
We also are getting ready for the book festival and two events at the shop. Debby Ware is doing a class on one of her hats. This is a GREAT beginner project and seriously, you should take this class just to hang out with Debby. She is so awesome!!! To register, call the shop at 434-296-4625. It's $50 for 3 hours and a few materials are needed. Check the class page.
If you have any questions, call and ask or stop in! Remember, this weekend you can buy yarn for a sweater (or a few) at 40% off!

lots and lots of photos
This weekend was officially declared felted flower weekend at the shop. Noni and Nicky Epstein patterns. Check out the photos. This makes me want to knit a flower a week and then in December I would have a bag made of flowers! Anyone want to join me?
Here is Colleen and her almost finished Whisper Cardigan from the recent Interweave Knits.
I love this design. It's on my list of things to do before the summer event season kicks off. Colleen's is out of Baby Bamboo. We have TONS of awesome colors in this yarn.
And here is a gorgeous sweater designed by Martin Storey...
I love the collar detail.
Here is Priscilla and her huge granny square that becomes a fab scarf.
F.O. Baroness Beret
F.O. Twisted Maiden Fingerless Gloves
F.O. Knitted Veggies by Rachel
F.O. Elijah with a scarf and tail by Rachel
Mimi's new needlepoint
Medallion bag knit-along
And last but not least...the Frodo stocking
Stay tuned and come see us!
